Nyla Dinkins is a senior at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School and serves as the Student Representative to the District of Columbia State Board of Education, where she advocates for nearly 100,000 students and co-leads the Student Advisory Committee. She has presented student perspectives as a national conference panelist on education policy. Nyla is Vice President of the National Honor Society, a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, an AP Scholar with Honors, and a recipient of the Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction. Her leadership includes competing in policy debate with the Washington Urban Debate League and becoming a two-time national finalist in the National Endowment for the Arts’ Poetry Out Loud competition. She has completed over 450 hours of community service and plans to study international relations at Spelman College before earning a J.D. to advance change through law and policy.
