Nicholas Lynam is a rising third-year law student at American University Washington College of Law, with a strong academic foundation in international systems and economic policy. He earned his B.A. in Economics and International Relations from Lehigh University, where his studies sparked an interest in the intersection of global governance, market regulation, and emerging technologies. Nicholas is drawn to the field of telecommunications law and its critical role in shaping international connectivity, digital policy, and national security. This summer, Nicholas will intern with the Federal Communications Commission’s Office of International Affairs, Global Strategy and Negotiations Division, the FCC’s lead on global engagement. In this role, he will support U.S. participation in regional telecommunications organizations, assist in preparing briefing materials for senior FCC officials, conduct legal and regulatory research, and help draft position papers on key global communications issues. Through this work, he hopes to deepen his understanding of how international legal frameworks and regulatory trends influence U.S. communications policy and the broader digital economy.
