Lauren Curtis

FCBA Foundation Scholarship ($8,000)

Lauren Curtis is a graduating senior from Duke Ellington School of The Arts and will be attending North Carolina Central University. Lauren will be majoring in biology during her four years at Central. Lauren has spent the last 15 years as a dancer. Throughout her educational career, she has taken many AP and Honors classes and has maintained a GPA above 3.5. Lauren enjoys giving back to her community. She has volunteered with Martha’s Table, A Wider Circle, and participated in many community-focused events with her church. Lauren is a member of the National Honor Society, she has participated in the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Board, a girl-led organization called She Rocks The World, and the DC Health and Academic Prep Program with George Washington University. She has a great interest in the sciences, which is why it is her dream to go to medical school and become a dermatologist. From there, she will open her own practice that specifically caters to people of color who do not receive sufficient and/or affordable healthcare.
