Janelle Edwards is a senior at Eastern Senior High School, born and raised in Washington, D.C., and is a Full International Baccalaureate Student. She is involved in the Young Women’s Project Non-Profit Organization, being a persistent sexual health advocate within her school community, and is a youth coach at the George Washington Health Desk to provide technological care to elders in the D.C. Metropolitan area. She also enjoys her time being a part of the IB Advisory board and the National Honor society within her school, where she provides community-based services to help improve her school environment. This fall, Janelle will be attending the University of Tampa to major in Nursing and participate in their honors program. Janelle wants to pursue a career to become a nurse practitioner specializing in disease control to fight against the rising effects of STIs and STDs in the black community, especially amongst the youth of Washington D.C.
