Non-profit Program
Through the support of TMT sponsors, the FCBA TMT Law & Policy Pipeline Program will fund two D.C. based paid legal internships at nonprofit organizations for Summer 2026 (8-10 weeks). Eligible Student Participants are first- and second-year law students who are enrolled in or have completed the TMT Law and Policy Certificate Program and who have demonstrated interest in the TMT nonprofit sector and the mission of participating nonprofit organizations.
Non-profit organizations who meet the following criteria can apply to be selected by the committee to participate in this year’s program.
What kind of non-profit organizations are eligible?
Organizations Must Be:
- Interactive Lunch & Learn sessions focused on mentorship, professional growth, and internship success.
- A dynamic Speed Mentoring event connecting students with a broad network of technology, media, and telecommunications professionals.
- An opportunity to attend an FCC Open Meeting followed by a fireside chat with FCC leadership
What is the selection process for non-profit organizations to participate?
- The TMT Committee, in consultation with the FCBA Executive Committee, reviews applications from both candidates and non-profit organizations, with the goal of matching individuals with organizations based on mutual interests, needs, and potential for impact
- Two non-profit organizations will be selected and will receive a curated list of 2-4 candidates (with their application materials) to schedule interviews
- Interviews take place in a virtual panel format facilitated by a TMT co-chair
- After interviews, the non-profit organization submits its preference to the TMT Committee
- Based on the non-profit organization’s preferences and other considerations, the TMT Selection Committee will review and either confirm or have a discussion with the organization
- The non-profit organization and candidate “match” conversations take place (self-scheduled)
- Matches are confirmed, and the non-profit organization and candidate will formalize internship placement and hiring. Final selection and hiring decisions will be made by the non-profit organization
This process is designed to be flexible and adaptable, allowing TMT non-profit organizations to tailor the internship to their specific needs and goals while maintaining a strong focus on ensuring the best match for the TMT Student Participant and the non-profit organization.
