Government Relations Senior Counsel – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking a Government Relations Senior Counsel to support its federal advocacy, policy, and organizational initiatives related to public safety communications. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-focused non-profit while working on complex legislative and regulatory matters.
What You’ll Do
You will represent APCO’s interests before Congress, federal agencies (such as the Federal Communications Commission), and the Administration, while advancing legislative and regulatory priorities through advocacy, research, and member engagement. Responsibilities include tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, drafting and editing policy memos and FCC filings, coordinating with government officials and external partners, and preparing briefings and presentations to support leadership and broader organizational initiatives.
What You Bring
You are an attorney with prior experience in government relations, law, and/or public safety, passionate about advancing policies that strengthen public safety communications. You bring strong writing and analytical skills and the ability to communicate clearly across a variety of formats. You manage multiple priorities efficiently, possess strong research capabilities and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and external partners.
Admission to the Bar of any state is required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
