The FCBA community mourns the loss of Anisa Latif Green, who passed away suddenly on July 2, 2026.
Anisa had been part of AT&T’s D.C. office for nearly thirty years. At the time of her death, she was a Director in AT&T’s External & Legislative Affairs Federal Regulatory team and Chief of Staff for Executive Vice President Rhonda Johnson. She was also a board member of USAC, a position she held since January 2025.
Anisa was a very active FCBA member for many years and served in a number of leadership roles. At the time of her passing, she was Co-Chair of the TMT Law & Policy Pipeline Program Committee and had previously served as Co-Chair of the FCBA Foundation. She served on the Annual Seminar Committee for many years and led the Seminar’s fun-filled annual Friday night bingo game, ensuring that no bingo participant left without a prize. She was also a member of the Charity Auction Committee. Anisa had received both the FCBA Foundation Volunteer of the Year Award and the FCBA Distinguished Service Award.
Anisa was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Midwood High School in Brooklyn in 1994 and attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook for two years, where she was studying to be a teacher. She then transferred to George Washington University, from which she graduated in 1998 with a major in Philosophy of Communications.
As Anisa was nearing graduation from GWU, she planned to return to Brooklyn and go to law school, but first she took a temporary position with Ameritech, one of the predecessor companies of today’s AT&T. Thereafter graduating from GWU, Ameritech hired her in a full-time position as a paralegal and she remained there, through the mergers of Ameritech, SBC, and AT&T, for about five years. She then moved over to the SBC federal regulatory team where she began working on consumer-focused issues such as Truth-in-Billing, CPNI and both the FCC formal and informal complaint process. Anisa continued to develop, grow, and thrive over the subsequent years in the Federal Regulatory team as SBC later acquired legacy AT&T, Bellsouth, etc. for more than 28 years, expanding her portfolio to include universal service and affordability issues. Anisa also took a leadership role within AT&T’s federal regulatory group, serving as Chief of Staff to both Joan Marsh and Rhonda Johnson.
In her engagement with the FCBA, the TMT Pipeline Program, and the Wireless Women’s Leadership Forum, among other organizations, Anisa continually sought out opportunities to mentor and lift up younger professionals working in the tech and telecom space. She gave generously of her time and talents to others and will have a lasting impact on the careers of many.
While she had a passion for helping others, Anisa was most proud of her role as a mother to her four incredible boys, with her loving husband, Naeem.
Share Memories and Condolences: We invite you to honor Anisa by sharing memories, photos, stories, and messages of condolence through a Digital Memory Book. We hope it will serve as a lasting tribute to the many lives she touched.
The Anisa Latif Green Scholarship Fund has been established by the FCBA Foundation in her memory. The funds raised will be used to award a $10,000 college scholarship each year to a student pursuing their undergraduate degree. Anisa wholeheartedly supported the Foundation college scholarship program, and this is a wonderful way to ensure that her memory is kept alive through these students.
