Topic: Cybersecurity Committee Lunch & Learn with Adam Chan
Join the Cybersecurity Committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association for a Lunch & Learn featuring Adam Chan, Director of the FCC Council on National Security and Senior National Security Counsel and Advisor to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. As the agency’s first director of the Council on National Security, Adam leads the FCC’s mission to reduce American supply chain dependencies on foreign adversaries and mitigate America’s vulnerabilities to cyberattacks, espionage, and surveillance. Under Adam’s leadership, the FCC updated its Covered List, which identifies untrustworthy equipment and services, to include foreign-made routers and Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS). The Council has also worked to secure American leadership in AI infrastructure by adopting rules to defend America’s submarine cable security from foreign adversaries.
Adam joined Chairman Carr’s Office from Boyden Gray PLLC. He previously served as a law clerk to the Hon. Judge Steven J. Menashi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Prior to his clerkship, Adam served as a National Security Legal Fellow in the United States House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. He is also a Non-Resident Fellow at Columbia Law School’s National Security Law Program. Adam received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A. from the University of Chicago, with the highest honors from both universities.
This lunch and learn program will provide insights into the considerations shaping the FCC’s national security priorities, the agency’s recent cybersecurity and supply chain proceedings, and the future of its efforts to protect our critical communications. Lunch will be served for those attending in person.
