CLE Seminar: Team Telecom: Protecting the Digital Infrastructure that Powers A.I.

The FCBA Transactional Practice Committee will co-sponsor a CLE on Monday, June 30, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET entitled Team Telecom: Protecting the Digital Infrastructure that Powers A.I.  The program will be held virtually via the Zoom platform.

The FCBA will apply for 2.0 hours of MCLE credit from the VA Bar.  This program has not yet been approved.

The Committee for the Assessment of Foreign Participation in the United States Telecommunications Services Sector, commonly known as Team Telecom, is a multi-agency committee comprised of the Department of Justice, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security that reviews certain applications involving companies regulated by the FCC for national security and law enforcement considerations. This CLE will provide an overview of Team Telecom, including the importance of the committee in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and will discuss some of the current issues in Team Telecom practice and policy.

12:00 – 12:10 p.m.     Welcome and Overview of Team Telecom
This session will provide an overview of Team Telecom’s mission to assess national security and law enforcement risk arising from foreign investment in the U.S. telecommunications sector, Executive Order 13913 (which established Team Telecom), how Team Telecom operates in reviews and in the monitoring and compliance phase, and major Team Telecom recommendations.

This panel will discuss submarine cables and why they are important to the development of artificial intelligence, market trends in the submarine cable industry, and national security risks associated with submarine cables.
