AGENDA
This CLE will examine consumer protection developments in 2025 at the FCC, FTC, and at the state level, and will forecast priorities for 2026. The FCC continues to crack down on unwanted and illegal robocalls through both rulemaking proceedings and enforcement actions, and has taken several actions to remove noncompliant filers from the agency’s Robocall Mitigation Database. The FTC has been particularly active in the enforcement space, focusing on robocalls, data privacy issues, and difficult-to-cancel subscription services, among other things. State attorneys general and government agencies, meanwhile, are increasingly focused on establishing and enforcing state consumer protection laws directed at subscription services, difficult cancellation mechanisms, and illegal robocalls.
