7.20 Sheppard Mullin’s Chambers-rated telecommunications practice is currently searching for a mid-level Associate to join the Washington, D.C. office. The position will focus on technology, media and telecommunications, with special emphasis on satellite, wireless, and new technologies.
Sheppard Mullin represents a dynamic group of clients in the industry, including industry-leading cable and satellite operators, broadband and wireless providers, and technology startups. Our clients are among the most admired companies in the telecom space, and we are proud to represent them on high-stakes and cutting-edge matters at the FCC, in the Courts, and in various state-level proceedings as well.
We are a close-knit group of roughly fifteen attorneys based in Sheppards D.C. office. Our telecom practice offers the collegiality of a small team with the resources of a major national and international law firm.
The Associate will counsel companies on all aspects of communications law and regulations. Satellite industry experience is an added bonus. We also work closely with our M&A team at Sheppard Mullin in obtaining regulatory approvals associated with major corporate transactions. In this context, we also advise numerous clients on obtaining clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) alongside the requisite FCC and state-level approval that are needed to clear large M&A transactions. Hence, CFIUS experience is a bonus though not necessary. matters.
Candidate must have a JD, 3-5 years of telecommunications legal experience, (preferably at law firm) and be in good standing with the D.C. bar. Must be a self-starter, able to work directly with clients, and ready to handle the ever-growing and changing legal matters in the telecom industry.
The Associate will be resident in our Washington, D.C. office.
