• Performs legal and factual research and provides oral and written legal advice, counsel, and opinions to the Deputy Division Chiefs, the Division Chief and the PSHSB Deputies and Bureau Chief. The scope of that research encompasses Commission rules, regulations and policies affecting public safety and homeland security and applicable court precedents.
• Drafts legal documents including but not limited to memoranda of law, waivers, notices of inquiry, notices of proposed rulemaking, orders and declaratory rulings. Summarizes comments received in response to notices of proposed rulemaking and notices of inquiry
• Communicates with licensees and the general public on matters related to public safety and homeland security. Prepares reports on the status of items that are his or her responsibility. Participates in meetings with those having business before the Commission, including but not limited to outside counsel. Coordinates with other Commission bureaus and offices which are affected by public safety and homeland security matters
• Researches information on the costs and benefits of Commission rules and policies, coordinating his or her work with the Office of Economics and Analytics. Examines and provides advice on applications for license and applications for modification of license. Addresses consumer complaints referred to the Division.
