The FCBA Wireline Committee will sponsor a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, November 18, 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. ET entitled The Future of Universal Service: Contribution Reform. This program will be held in person at Wiley, 2050 M Street NW, Washington, DC 20036, and virtually via the Webex platform (RSVP below for the link).
As demand on the FCC’s Universal Service Fund increases and traditional telecommunications revenues decrease, the Fund is under tremendous pressure. As a result, Congress and the FCC are both considering options to reform the USF contribution system. Recently, Congress’s bipartisan, bicameral USF Working Group sought comment on potential reforms. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has also proposed solutions for improving the long-term sustainability of the Fund.
The Lunch & Learn panel will discuss the state of USF contribution reform policy both on the Hill and at the FCC, as well as potential statutory and regulatory solutions.
