5.19.2 – The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau is looking for an attorney to join the Cybersecurity and Communications Reliability Division.  This position is open to attorneys who meet the qualifications for GS13, 14 or 15.  The Division’s portfolio includes the reliability and security of communications networks, generally, and 911 networks, specifically, as well as disaster preparedness and response.  Attorneys in this Division are exposed to a wide range of legal and policy matters, work closely with technical staff, and are asked to prepare a wide range of legal and policy products, including Commission items and Bureau orders, briefing materials, strategic plans, reports to Congress, and investigative reports.  The position involves interaction with a wide variety of private and public stakeholders involved with public safety, homeland security issues, and national security.  Applicants should have experience identifying major policy issues requiring interpretation, developing recommended approaches and resolutions, and preparing the vehicles to effectuate policy consistent with facts, applicable law, regulation and jurisprudence.  The scope of legal problems encountered is broad, highly complex, and incorporates technical analysis.  This attorney will represent Division and Bureau leadership at meetings both internal to the FCC and with outside parties.
