Topic: Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act. Last renewed in 2014 as the STELA Reauthorization Act (STELAR), several provisions of STELAR are set to expire at the end of 2019, including parts of the compulsory copyright license for satellite TV providers and several retransmission consent provisions. The 2014 reauthorization was also a vehicle for several new provisions impacting broadcasters’ and MVPDs’ carriage rights. Our guests will discuss what to expect in 2019 as STELAR is considered for reauthorization by Congress.
